I have planned the kit for Hermione, or most of it anyway, now I just need to select yarns and start working on it. Everything else will have to wait until next week, which will hopefully be better than this one.

It's a new term again and here is my first homework assignment. At least I'll start it now and will hope to get it done tomorrow, everyone in my family including me seems to have caught a cold.

I received my kit

That's the sight greeting me when I opened the package, lots of lovely, handknit flowers and leaves plus some paper leaves. The smaller flowers are brooches, the black one (hidden under a leave on the pic) is already on the lapel of my purple jacket.

Below, I found a folder with a timetable for our summer camp, plus patterns for the handmade items, instructions for camp crafts etc. All the little packages inside had times on them and held items needed for the activities at that time. That was a really nice idea and gave me some insight into what a summer camp could be like. I've never been to one.

That's everything unwrapped, I'll try to list it all here: handknit sunflowers, leaves, flower brooches, a flower necklace (red flower with dark green on the pic), a crochet wrist band, 3 wooden dinos for my little house elf Philipp, Creole seasoning mix, Graham crackers and marshmallows (to make smores), stitch markers and a knitting magazine. And of course yarn and beads and pattern to make the Lady of the Wood fingerless mittens by Ann Kingston. The yarn is KnitPicks Shimmer, an alpaca silk blend, I can't wait to knit with it. And the colour is perfect for me.

Thank you so much Poppy for this beautiful kit, I love every single item in it. And Philipp loves the dinos, he had them all assembled within 5 minutes and hasn't stopped playing with them since.

Now I'm off to fondle the yarn and look through the patterns, please excuse me.

My vacation

I have been on another trip to the UK, mainly to Cardiff via London and Bristol. I met with a friend in London on Wednesday, as my flight was going there anyway. The next day I took a coach to Bristol, where I met up with two friends of mine. We went to Bradford on Avon for lunch - or rather a cream tea for myself, as we were in a tea room called "The Bridge". I just couldn't resist the scones and clotted cream. The night was spent at my friends place in Bristol, we watched the first episode of "Sherlock", chatted and knit, it was really nice.

The next morning we took the train to Cardiff, where we saw a lot of Torchwood and Doctor Who filming locations. We even went to the National History Museum, which we should see on Sunday night in the second episode of "Sherlock" - where it was supposed to be a museum in London. Didn't know London was that close to Cardiff ;-)

Of course I couldn't be in Cardiff without visiting the Doctor Who exhibition, they had a few really nice things on display. I love how real this shot of the Ood turned out:

On Saturday night, we went to a concert at "The Globe" and got to see Spiridion (a Welsh metal band I really enjoyed) and Blue Gillespie (the band of Gareth David Lloyd, who played Ianto in Torchwood). It was a fun evening, even if the location was way too hot.

Unfortunately my vacation was over all too soon, I came back home on Monday - which I basically spent in buses, waiting for buses, waiting on the airport and on an airplane.

Cardiff is really a nice city, I definitely want to go again sometime - and to Bristol, London, Edinburgh and so many other regions in the UK I haven't visited yet.

I will be spoiling Gryphon the Great in Summer Camp and I'm busy planning his kit - or rather I have almost everything I need for his kit, just need to knit for a while and create a few little things. Otherwise I should be all sorted, I can't believe it. Never before I had planned a kit and bought everything I needed within the first week.

This will be so much fun, I'm sure he's going to love this kit.

A rather tired owl arrived today with a parcel for me from Cassandra Goode. Inside I found a big, handknit robot for my son plus yarn and patterns to make two more. For me there was the pattern for Ravenclaw socks from our Emma Wigworthy plus wool-free yarn to knit them... I really think I should learn how to do fair isle now.

I found a pair of straight knitting needles with strawberries at the top, a pair of chain mail earrings with turtles, a beautiful hair comb and a pompom maker in the box as well. Oh, and I almost forgot about the knitting pattern to make a cute little bunny.

Those hats are my contribution to SPEW this term, they have been sent today and will be donated to Bonnie Babies in the UK. I have chosen mostly warm and bright colours as I hope they will bring some light into the lives of a family. Small gestures like this can really make a difference - at least I hope they do.

Pancakes

This is what I make, when I want pancakes to be special - a cake made from pancakes, jam and decorated with gummy candy.

Ingredients (for 2 people):
3 eggs
6 - 7 tablespoons flour
1 -2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup of milk
jam - whatever you have at hand or like best
powdered sugar
small gummy candies
oil for the skillet

Instructions:

Mix flour and sugar in a bowl, add egg and half of the milk. With a wire whisk or mixer mix for until you have a smooth dough. Then slowly add more milk until the dough is easily running from a spoon - you will need a rather liquid dough to make thin pancakes.

Heat a bit of oil in a skillet, add enough dough to make pancakes about 2 - 3 mm high (you'll need to experiment about how much dough you need, it depends on the size of your skillet). Lightly brown pancake on both sides, put on a plate.

While the next pancake is baking, thinly spread some jam on the finished one. Repeat until there is no more dough left. Don't spread jam on the top pancake, but dust it with powdered sugar and decorate with gummy candy.

Since I blogged last week, everything in my house dissolved into chaos - my son got sick, my partner as well... We are finally somehow back to normal, but now I need to clean the house as I will have guests for the weekend. It's my birthday tomorrow and inlaws will visit on Sunday.

But there are a few positive things to report, I have the handmade item for Rowena done, just need to make a few small things - and of course I still need to dye the yarn for her, but my skein winder is still broken. But if all else fails, I'll wind it with my niddy-noddy to be able to send during the early send period.

Unfortunately the next Quidditch match will be in the middle of the night for me, so I can't even cheer for Ravenclaw. So I decided to at least post a battle cry here:

Potions homework

Here is my homework for this week, I've used the same originality marker as before:

Part 1:

Ground nutmeg can be used in potions to heal stomach flu and other illness that have to do with digestions

Gerbera are part of some cleansing potions

A Dracaena produces a red resin when cut, which is not by chance called 'Dragon's Blood' - it can be used in healing potions for injured dragons

Dried or fresh cumin is a main ingredient in potions to bind a lover to you - it only works when the person drinking the potion is really in love with you, otherwise you might end up with a creepy stalker, so be careful

Dried bay leaves are part of an insect repelling potion, very useful to have with you when you spend a long time outdoors

Part 2:

Answer the following potions questions:

1. Sneezewort, scurvy grass, and lovage are used to make what?

B: Confusing Draught

2. Porcupine quills are to be added when to a Boil Cure Potion?

D: After it is removed from the fire

3. What potion, if brewed correctly, should change color numerous times throughout brewing including deep purple, lilac, and finishing clear?

A: The Draught of Living Death

4. This ingredient in the Draught of Peace, would likely bring you permanent peace since it is poisonous, what is it?

My time turner seems to be broken, it was Wednesday just a few minutes ago and I wanted to go back an hour as I had missed an appointment - and now it is Saturday and I almost missed the deadline for posting here... And I won't even get started on what else I missed - classes, homework, Quidditch *sigh*

Mini sock key chains

I have been asked how to make my little sock keychains, here is a basic recipe... you might need to add a row or two in some places, depending on your gauge and the yarn, I never really count the row just try to get them to look right:

With sockyarn and 2.5 mm needles or whatever size you usually use for socks CO 20 st, knit 1/1 ribbing for 4 rows, then continue in stockinette stitch until leg is about 1 inch. Knit short row heel with wrapped stitches over half of the stitches (you can do every other short row heel as well), after heel knit in stockinette again for 7-9 rows.
Toe:
(K1, ssk, k 4, k2 tog, k1) twice
knit all around
(K1, ssk, k 2, k2 tog, k1) twice
(K1, ssk, k2 tog, k1) twice
cut yarn, pull yarn through remaining 8 st to close the toe, weave in ends - use cast on end to sew to a key ring or keychain.

Care of Magical Creatures Homework

Another week is gone, so here is my homework - it is due today, so I finished on last minute. But I got the extra parts done as well...

Part 1: Describe and explain 5 items that you would use for the care of magical creatures

Gloves - of course magically enhanced - to handle animals that might bite, are poisonous or spit acid
nail clippers - to shorten the claws of some animals, to prevent them from harming themselves or each other
brush - to brush their hair, to remove dirt stuck to their pelt
belt - serves as an impromptu leash if you use the right charm on it
wool - to make a soft nest for orphaned baby animals

Part 2: Answer the following questions

1. Please describe the physical appearance of a house elf. - House elves are between two to three feet tall, with spindly arms and legs and over-sized heads and eyes. They have pointed, bat-like ears and high, squeaky voices. Rather than conventional clothing, house-elves wear discarded items like pillowcases and tea-towels
2. Kreacher is the house elf of which wizarding family? - The Black family
3. What is Hermione Granger making for the house elves? - she's knitting little hats for them
4. How do you free a house elf? - Make them a gift in form of a piece of clothing
5. What does S.P.E.W. stand for? - Society for the Promotion of Elvish Welfare

Part 3: For bonus points, knit or sew a SPEW item - I decided to crochet a sunny yellow hat with a scalloped edge. And as I just realized, I forgot my originality marker for this picture, I'll take a new one and exchange it later

I have almost finished my homework, just the bowtruckle and the time turner refuse my attempts of Transfiguration. But I won't give up and hope to get that done as well.

I forgot my originality marker in the first photo, but I hope it still counts. The spell efficio poculum transfigured it into the lovely teapot below - but be careful, or it might bite your nose

First week assignment

The term has barely started and we have our first assignment - but this one is really fun...

Which characters did I chose for my kit and why?

Bellatrix Lestrange - I don't particularly like her, she's a bit too crazy to do so. But sometimes I'm a bit crazy too, so I think it fits. And I like the way she dresses, appeals to the goth in me. And if you ignore the crazyness, she is really pretty ;-) I don't know what else to say about her
Draco Malfoy - He's pretty too, but in a completely different way. I think he is misunderstood a lot of the time, he is not evil but stands under a lot of pressure from his family. And he is just a boy, so what is he supposed to do? With a different upbringing he could have been a rather nice person. He is intelligent, that's something I like in other people. Draco must be really strong to be able to hide his emotions from everyone - but that's also why they don't realize that he doesn't really want to be like his father. I don't know if this all makes sense to you, but it's hard for me to write down what I like about him
Sirius Black - He is loyal to his friends and to Harry, he would do everything to help them. He even risks his life. Sometimes he takes unnecessary risks as he doesn't think it through, he acts immediately. That sometimes is true for myself as well, I'm rather impulsive so I can relate to him there. He must be really strong as well, to survive so many years in Azkaban without going completely crazy.

Now I'm off to stalk my spoilee's blog, I need to get some ideas about what to make for her. Oh, I didn't tell you yet, I'm spoiling Rowena Bladvak this term, can't wait to get to know her better.

Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey

As you can see, I have a tiny!Timelord visiting, he's travelling around the world with his TARDIS and visits crafters. But somehow he must have gotten the date wrong after we were on a trip in the TARDIS, as the weekend is already over and I didn't have time to post on Saturday.

Last week has been really busy, as I've been preparing to sell yarn and handmade items on a market - but it was a giant waste of time, almost didn't sell a thing.

From today on I should have more time and will hurry to finish my kit for Lizzie.

First of all, sorry that I've been so quiet but the stupid muggle technology called 'Laptop' refused to let me write to this blog while I was on vacation in the UK. I'm going to give you a bit of a report here, more about the conventions I attended can be found on my muggle blog

After a long day (I had to use muggle transportation like airplanes, subways and trains) I arrived in Birmingham to attend a convention called The Hub 3 - it was all about a TV series called Torchwood. To blend in, I made a costume related to one of the characters, but of course I femalized it. Below is a picture of the original costume:

Unfortunately, James Marsters (the actor who played John Hart) couldn't be there as he had an accident on set of his new project, but it still was a lot of fun. I got to know a lot of nice people and will try to stay in contact with some of them. To my surprise, there were a lot of German people as well and I feared I would be the only one. More photos can be found in this flickr Album and as I said before, a full report is on my muggle blog.

Then I spend a few days in London, just walking around and visiting museums - but it was really crowded everywhere and I didn't get to visit the Science Museum or the Natural History Museum because of the masses trying to get in there. No way I'm going to queue over an hour to get into a museum just to not be able to see anything because it is filled with little kids. Next time I probably shouldn't go there during half term.

The next weekend I went to another convention about all things Joss Whedon has created and as it was around Halloween it was called Hallowhedon. This time, James Marsters was there - even if he still was in pain because of his accident (something with his spine, a slipped disk if I got it right). Once again, I had lots of fun with my friend Birgit (on the pic with me) and got to know a lot of nice and interesting people. The outfit on the photo was handmade, I crochet a triangle shawl and a skirt (with a petticoat style musslin skirt underneath) - thanks to handmade jewelry by Roseworksjewelry, which she custom made for me, I could wear the shawl like wings for the Halloween party.

And of course I got a photo taken with James Marsters - I just had to wear my John Hart outfit, even if it was the wrong convention. It was so worth all the effort I put into it, as James Marsters commented on it and told me he loved it *swoon*. Again, more photos on flickr and a full report on my muggle blog.

The pattern will be released in a few minutes, then I'll weild my crocet hook to hopefully push her off her broom - because captain or not, I want to win this duel

I know, I have been terribly quiet this term, but I have packed the kit for Lavender and send an owl to her today. Hopefully it will arrive soon.

I wanted to add so many more things, but somehow I always went over the budget with them so I had to limit myself. But I'm sure she will like it as I picked up some hints she dropped on her blog. Now back to my busy life and my son - when kindergarten has vacation, he keeps me really busy

Wow, yet another week is gone, and I really don't know how that happened... My son kept me rather busy this week as the weather was great and we spent lots of time on the playground or in the park.

But I've made some progress on the kit for Lavender, just need to put the finishing touches to a few things and then I'm ready to ship, hopefully I'll manage to get it done by next week.

And of course I've done some knitting and crochet, but didn't make as much progress there as I intended to.

Now I'm off again, to a baptism and a birthday party, so I'll have to hurry and get dressed.

When I encounter a boggart, I always see a big, scary spider... I really hate those 8-legged beasts and they scare the hell out of me. But then I imagine the spider surrounded by baby toys and stuffed animals. and it has a big pacifier and a teddy bear on top. The truth...

Last week I was posting 3 truths and a lie and now it's time to reveal the truth...

I've never read a single Harry Potter book: true - but I listened to the audiobooks of them all
I've already visited Africa, but otherwise stayed in Europe: true - I've been to Morocco as a toddler, so I've been in Africa. And that's the only trip so far that brought me out of Europe
I'm fluent in 3 languages, including my native language German: lie - I'm only fluent in English and German, due to lack of practice I forgot almost all of my French and Spanish. Just have passive knowledge there
I have never eaten shellfish: true - and I never will, as I'm allergic to fish and all kinds of seafood. The allergy was detected when I was little and eating fish fingers for the first time, so they are the only fish I've ever eaten.

The only one who guessed this right was Gryphon, congrats.

Week 1 games - part three

Finally I got around to posting the last part of this....

I have look through my spoilers and spoilees projects on Ravelry and had a hard time to decide about a favorite one, as they have made a lot of great things.

Helga Ze Horrid is my spoiler and I just had to favorite her Smily-longies, now I just need to find a little one who could wear them, as my son is already too old. But friends of us had their third child lately, so I might have an opportunity to get them done.

And my spoilee Lavender Ollivander has made some really beautiful crochet items. After looking at them for a while, I decided that her Spidey-Ghan is my favorite, as my son loves Spiderman. I had shown this pattern to him and asked if he wanted it, but he decided that it would be 'cooler' if I made it in black and white. Kids can be crazy sometimes.

I have to tell you about the hot time I had in Diagon Alley last weekend! My friend Hermione Bagnold and I decided that we really needed some new 4mm crochet hook and had to get over to Diagon Alley immediately. Hermione put on their hat because it was thin and did not want to get a cold. I grabbed my keys and we headed to the trains.

While waiting for our train to Diagon Alley, we chatted with Emma Wigworthy and Antonio Dela Weasley who were planning to visit Gringott’s. Antonio did not want to go alone because he was collecting a pot and that was very big and brought Emma along for their excellence in protecting spells.

The train arrived and off we went. Our seats were very comfortable and the train sped along towards Diagon Alley and we were there in a flash! Before heading to the Yrsa’s Yarn Shoppe, we went into a paper clip that sells the silver pretzels!!! As we neared the paper clip, we noticed quite a lot of commotion! The paper clip owner had set the pretzels-making machine and it had gotten stuck! pretzels were shining everywhere! I ducked as a cream-filled pretzel came shining right at me and it polished into Professor Snape’s skirt just as they walked through the door! A vanilla pretzel did a nose dive and splattered all over the corner most elaborately! We made it out of the store just as a pretzel frog and a kettle of Bertie Bott’s every flavor beans collided in a rainstorm of goo!

Since we were still dirty, we walked the five blocks over to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor! I decided on a cone with chilli ice cream and Hermione got the hot fudge sundae with extra cream! Yummy! Professor Snape had made their way over here as well after the incident at the pretzels shoppe and had chosen a tea float.

After that, we passed Gringott’s and headed to Yrsa’s Yarn Shoppe! I tried not to look at the beautiful skeins of silk and bamboo and wool and instead, headed toward the 4mm crochet hooks while Hermione stopped to paint the stitch markers. I found a bright 4mm crochet hook made out of steel and made my purchase. Hermione kept hedging between the 4mm crochet hook she came for and a pattern for a cardigan. She chose the cardigan pattern and we walked the back towards the train station just in time to make the 12:30 train.

After sitting down, we noticed Emma Wigworthy and Antonio dela Weasley were on the train as well. Antonio looked quite small to have the pot with them. Emma however did not look smalled at all. While waiting to go into the vault, a baby goblin waiting in line with his Mommy, had seen on Emma getting treacle toffees all over their clean robes! The smell really was just horrendous! Apparently, Emma’s protecting spells don’t work well against treacle toffees!! We made our way to a less smelly compartment and talked about how we were going explain missing Professor Lupin’s lecture on the valuable ways dragons are working with the Department of Mysteries in solving unsolvable books!

That's an awesome kit, I can't wait to use the soysilk - never had soysilk before, but it feels wonderfully soft and will make great gloves. As I love dragons, the dragon will be fun to make too - I'll just have to keep it away from my son.

The shawl pin is perfect, as it is really lightweight, I think I'll need to wear my shawl tomorrow so I can use it.

I've never seen such a cute, tiny crochet hook, it might go directly to my project bag and help me pick up dropped stitches.

I'm curious about the rosewood needles, never used them before, but they look beautiful.

Now I'll have to go, want to fondle the yarn a bit more and perhaps I'll use the hour or so I got before picking my son up from kindergarten to cast on for the gloves.

Today I painted Easter Eggs with my little wizard to be. We had lots of fun and created some beautiful eggs - to help the Easter Bunny of course. You know, the Easter Bunny is so busy with getting all the eggs coloured and hiding them for all the kids, it could do with some help.

So my son and I grabbed our brushes and did some colouring magic to the previously white eggs. And the results are really pretty, don't you think?

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive... I'm having a great time at London so far and will board a coach tonight to go to Edinburgh. I'm really excited to meet some of you there but I still have another 8 hours to go.

When I'm finally back home next Thursday, I'll post a few pics to show you what I've been up to during my vacation.

As for knitting, I've been making lots of tiny preemie hats for SPEW which I will hand to Emma Wigworthy on our meeting.

And I found some beautiful beads to make stitchmarkers for my spoilee.

where am I today?

As I told you last week, I'm really busy at the moment.

Last Tuesday I had a 5 hour train ride to visit my parents as my dad had his 60th birthday. The party was Wednesday, Thursday was needed to clean up all the mess and today I packed my suitcase again.

But I'm not heading back home, I'll fly to London tomorrow. There I'll spend 5 days all on my own, as my son is staying with my parents. After those 5 days, I'll travel to Edinburgh to meet a few fellow Hogwarts students over the weekend, then back to London, another night at the hotel there and by Tuesday, March 24 I'll fly back to my parents place.

One day later, I'll finally head back home with my son in tow and everything will be back to normal again.

I'll do my best to post next week, but I don't know if I'll have internet access as I don't own a laptop computer and my cell phone is too old to be used for browsing the web.

Don't have too much fun without me and cross your fingers as I don't want too much rain for my vacation.

I thought I'd share some pics with you of my latest crochet project - a beautiful shawl made with super soft microfiber yarn:

And of course I'm still working on my kit, I'm almost done with it - right now I'm about to crochet a cute little something that will go into the package as well.

I'm so excited, I'll leave to visit my parents by Tuesday, then fly to London next Saturday and meet with other students the Friday after that in Edinburgh... so I most likely will be rather quiet during the next two weeks, but I hope to be able to report about my vacation in between.

My muggle family kept me so busy this week, I didn't even find time to do my homework *hangs head in shame*

But I found some time for crafting and started putting the kit together for my pal. I don't have everything yet, but it's making good progress: yarn is dyed, knitting part of the bag is done and some treats are bought.

I found my love for crochet again and have made a few small projects this week to get the hang of it and now I'm working on a beautiful shawl... I wish I knew how to enchant my knitting needles to knit socks by themselves, but they never manage to get the heel right - leaves me no other choice than to knit them myself, even if I hate the yarn a friend of mine chose for her socks.

This is me and my son - not even one year old back then. We were at the wedding of some friends and as they had a medieval wedding I made a tunic for my son and bought a beautiful green and cream coloured dress with wide sleeves and lacing in the front for myself. You can't see much of the dress here, but I still love to wear it.

Today arrived a very tired owl with a really big package for me. Eugene Nigeno put together a real special package for me, filled with lots and lots of nice stuff.

Everything was nicely wrapped in silver tissue paper with dark green ribbon, it was a pleasure to unwrap

Inside I found one exciting thing after the next... A knitting pattern by Wendy Johnson, a beautiful Slytherin Fair-Isle bag, bamboo/merino sockyarn, roving, bamboo dpns, holders for dpns shaped like hats and gloves, sock knitting stitch markers, postcards, sweets and two keychains - one a little sock on a sockblocker and the other a converse boot.

I hope I didn't forget anything in my description, but everything is on the picture. And to show you more details of this awesome package, I made some more pics:

I'm finally back online again and able to post as much as I want - okay, not really because I still have other things to do but at least I don't miss out on all the fun here...

As the weather is really bad here, I won't go trick-or-treating with my son for halloween, it's raining like mad and Halloween for the kids would have been today. It's not celebrated that much in Germany but they always make a party for the kids OUTSIDE and the kids can go trick-or-treating in the shops around the market place. But as it's raining all the time and we all just recovered from the flu, I think it's better to stay at home.

As it is our anniversary tomorrow, I'll go to a party with my partner and most likely dress up, perhaps I'll post a pic if you're interested.

Now I have to do some cleaning at home, didn't master the spell for self-folding laundry yet and my dishes always break when I try to magically clean them - so no way around at doing it the muggle way. I really have to practice those spells

I still have no internet access at home, but I hope to be back online by this weekend. Wish me luck, I really hate to be cut off of all my internet friends and of this swap.

But at least I got plenty of knitting time due to the lack of internet and got some projects finished, some of them even paid ones. I'll post some pics as soon as possible, for now I'm impatiently waiting to be back online.

I really hope that the weather will be better by next week as I have plans for Halloween - it's not celebrated that much here in Germany but there will be some parties or I might even get a chance ot go to a club with my partner. And if the weather is fine, I'll dress up with my son and go trick or treating, I'm sure he'll love it.

just wanted to show that I'm still alive, but I'm rather occupied with my exams for my muggle education right now. Tomorrow will be the first one, and then one every day for the next two weeks.

But I decided about a bag for my pal and bought the wool, just need to dye it at the beginning of next week or so and then I can start knitting. It will be nothing too fancy, as my knitting time is somewhat short too at the moment, but I hope she will still like it.

wow, I never would have guessed that so many people would participate in my little contest. Just 36 hours after I posted it and we already have 13 entries - so for sure my son will have some fun Saturday in drawing the names.

As the contest bag is finished now and I'm waiting to hear back from my pal about her preferences, I have some spare knitting time. And as I can't really live without knitting, I'm rather busy to make tiny baby hats for S.P.E.W.

They will be donated to Bonnie Babies by the end of the swap and I finally found a way to use up all those leftovers and partial skeins. Photos will be posted soon, it's almost midnight here and I just wanted to stop by for a moment.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, I really had a great day. The party was fun too, I enjoyed to get to know some of you.

I got some great birthday presents, but nothing knitting related as the book did not arrive in time and my friends had to buy something else instead... As far as I know, they had planned to get Arans and Celtics for me, now I got an audio book and a book by Terry Pratchett. I like them too, but the knitting book would have been awesome.

Besides, I got some cute Mary Janes with just a bit of a heel, they will look great with a pair of jeans as well as with a skirt. And not to forget the muggle money and the gift certificate for a clothing store. Now I can do some shopping, as soon as I am back to the muggle town Dortmund again.

I am planning my classes right now, for sure I will enjoy Defense against Dark Arts with such a good looking new teacher. And the lessons about History we got lately were great, not boring at all, I might even start to like this course.

For my third year here at Hogwarts, I decided to take Muggle Studies as an additional class, my parents are muggles and I live in the muggle world when not at Hogwarts, so this might be fun too.

Now I have to look for my dorm and my roommates, I want to get to know them as soon as possible.

A few days ago, my second package arrived, Emma Wigworthy is really an awesome pal, I couldn't believe that I was getting so many goodies... And again, everything was lovely packaged with personalized paper.

Unfortunately, the jars of the jam and pickles she made for me were broken during shipping, but luckily she had everything packaged separately and neither the yarn nor the bag got stained.

The yarn is handdyed 100% silk in beautiful shades of green plus some handspun, handdyed silk/angelina in black with a hint of silver.

In summer 1995, she takes a part time job at Gringotts in London, to improve her english - and probably to get to know Bill Weasley better. About a year later, they become engaged. Their wedding is in summer 1997, and the very same day the Ministry of Magic falls to the Deatheaters.

Fleur helps Harry to escape from the house of the Dursleys by drinking polyjuice potion and faking to be Harry - as well as some other do. She fights at the side of her husband Bill and the other during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Bill and Fleur have 3 children, Victoire, Dominique and Louis.

Her wand has a core made from Veela hair from her grandma.

She has silvery-blonde hair, blue eyes and very even white teeth, her voice is described as "throaty".

Her name is french and means "flower of the court" if you translate it to english.

Her school Beaubatons is the best known school for wizardry in France, even though there might be others.

Veela are fairylike women with silvery-blonde long hair which is still moving even when there is no wind at all. Men affected by them will do the most silly things, just to get recognized. But when a Veela is angry, she will show an entirely different face, they transform into scary creatures with scaled wings and can throw fireballs on their victims.

Package #1 arrived

I couldn't believe my eyes, when the owls delivered this beautiful package yesterday... okay, it was a standard looking package, but the content was awesome.

Everything was wrapped in paper with "Especially for ..." (can't show you a pic because it was my Muggle name and I don't want to reveal it yet) and the Slytherin logo printed all over it and the content was lovely packaged and decorated too.

But have a look yourselves, what I found in there:

A sock knitting book, a beautiful set of stitch markers, lovely packaged set of dpns - they look like Knit Picks Harmony, but I'm not sure - a printed version of the "Durmstrang sock" pattern in a cover that closes with a magnet. Parts of the pic are blurred, because they show my Muggle name too

And have a look at those beautiful wrapped cans with Spotted Dick and English Custard - I don't have an idea what it is, but I'm curious to find it out. I love to get to know food from other parts of the world that I can't buy here.

And last, but not least, there were 3 beautiful looking bags filled with delicous candy, I already tried all 3 of them and can't name a favorite

Now I'm looking forward to the second package with my bag and yarn, but I'm sure it will be awesome too.

Goblet of Fire

I just had to share this with you, while browsing for more Harry Potter related items on etsy, I found a real Goblet of Fire. It is made by John T. Unger who has lots more of great firebowls in his shop plus unique masks and bottlecap mosaics.

Unfortunately I don't have a place where I could use this firebowl, but I absolutely love it. Be sure to have a look at this store.
